"Beautiful hotel in historical setting"

We had a great time at Kouria Hotel, the food, especially was fantastic and the view pretty amazing. The hotel is a short walk from Ampelakia, the historical village which boasts the first Co-operative in the world. Cobble stone streets, birds chirping and a sweet old fashioned square. The village has two museums as well. In general, a great experience the staff were sweet and it was the perfect stopover on the long road to Athens.

"Very cozy during winter trip"

I stopped here basically as a convenient point on a trip between Athens and Thessaloniki, and was very happy I did. I had chosen Kouria since I wanted somewhere peaceful (my choice was right).

The room was very pleasant, with separated sitting area and bedroom. The room had french doors that opened onto a patio (though, this being December, it was a bit cold out so I didn't use the patio at all) and past that, the beautiful view towards the mountain range with the village of Ampelakia perched at the top.

My favorite part though was the bar upstairs near the reception, which had a really nice wood fire burning the whole time. Coupled with nice wine and nice snacks (smoked cheese, fruit, etc.) I ended up spending lots of time there. Sadly I didn't have an opportunity to try the "restaurant" food, though the menu sounded very gourmet.

Certainly looking forward to a return sometime.
